The September issue of Vogue features Annie Liebovitz shooting an Edith Wharton-inspired story, “The Custom of the Country”, at the actual home of Wharton in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, The Mount. Author Colm Tóibín revisits the life of Edith from a 21st century literary perspective, examining her friendship with Henry James and her romantic pursuit of Morton Fullerton.
On September 4th we publish EDITH WHARTON AT HOME, a closer look at the way The Mount reveals Edith’s many passions and relationships. Lesser known than Wharton’s literary accomplishments is her expertise in decorative arts and Italian garden design. She wrote the seminal guide The Decoration of Houses in 1897, ushering in an American era of classic good taste.

The Mount also makes for a spectacular tourist destination.
